Step 1: Prep the Eyes
Start by applying a thin layer of eyeshadow primer across the eyelid. This step is optional, but it helps eyeshadow stay vibrant and in place during long rehearsals and performances.
Next, dust loose setting powder under the eyes. This catches fallout and makes cleanup quick and easy.
Step 2: Base Eyeshadow
This palette includes shades for different skin tones, so choose the base color that works best for you.
- Use a fluffy brush to dust a base shade across the eyelid.
- Pick a crease shade with a dome brush and press it into the crease, blending back and forth toward the outer corner.
- Switch to a fluffy brush to soften the blend.
Step 3: Lid Shimmer
Add dimension by pressing a shimmer shade onto the inner and middle lid using your fingertip or a foam applicator. This gives the eyes a glow that shows beautifully on stage.
Step 4: Define the Outer Corner
- Use a darker matte shade with a dome brush to press color into the outer corner in a V shape.
- For a sharp smokey edge, line up your finger from the outer corner of the eye toward the end of the eyebrow.
- Blend lightly with a fluffy brush.
Add a touch more shimmer to the center of the lid to highlight the eye shape.
Step 5: Eyeliner & Mascara
Shake your liquid eyeliner pen and line the top lash line. Dot along the lid first, then connect the dots for control and precision.
Sweep away any loose powder under the eyes, then apply two coats of mascara for volume and definition.
Step 6: Blush & Highlighter
Pat blush onto the apples of the cheeks with a powder puff and blend toward the cheekbones.
For highlighter, spray a clean powder puff with setting spray, pick up highlighter, and press it along the tops of the cheekbones for a stage-ready glow.
Step 7: Transfer-Proof Lips
- Clean lips with a makeup wipe to remove oils or balm.
- Line lips first, then apply a thin coat of matte liquid lipstick.
- Allow to dry fully, or blot gently with a tissue.
- Avoid chapstick, gloss, or balm underneath or over the lip color.
Step 8: Magnetic Lashes (Optional)
Finish with magnetic lashes to frame the eyes.
- Apply two coats of magnetic liner (over eyeliner if desired).
- Place lashes on the liner.
- Press gently to secure magnets.
Final Look
This Step South Dance makeup look delivers bright, defined eyes, glowing skin, and long-wear lips that hold up through every performance. Perfect for competition season and stage lighting.
Have an incredible season, dancers!
