This classic competition makeup look combines neutral brown shades with a bright shimmer highlight for a polished look that stands out on the mat. Follow along to recreate the complete Step One Allstars North team makeup look.
Step 1: Prep Your Eyes
Start by applying a thin layer of eyeshadow primer across your eyelid. Primer helps the eyeshadow stay in place and makes the colors appear more vibrant.
Next, dust a little loose setting powder underneath your eyes. This optional step catches eyeshadow fallout and makes cleanup much easier when you're finished.
Step 2: Apply the Natural Matte Base
Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, pick up the natural matte eyeshadow and lightly dust it across your eyelid, blending slightly into the crease.
This creates a smooth, neutral base for the rest of the eyeshadow look.
Step 3: Add Frosty Shimmer
Next, use your fingertip to pick up the frosty shimmer eyeshadow and gently pat it onto the center of your eyelid, working inward toward the inner corner.
Apply a second layer to brighten the center of the eye and build the shimmer.
You can also use a foam eyeshadow applicator instead of your fingertip to apply the shimmer across the lid.
Step 4: Blend Medium Brown into the Crease
Using a dome-shaped eyeshadow brush, pick up the medium brown shade and press it into the outer corner of your eye and along the crease.
Switch to a fluffy blending brush and gently sweep the color through the crease to soften the edges.
This adds dimension to the eye while keeping the look soft and natural.
Step 5: Create the Brown Smokey Outer Corner
Now it's time to add depth with the dark brown eyeshadow.
Using your dome-shaped brush, press the dark brown shade into the outer corner of your eye, creating a V shape.
Makeup Tip: For a clean, defined smokey eye, line up your finger from the outer corner of your eye toward the outer edge of your eyebrow. This creates a guide to help keep your eyeshadow edge sharp as you apply the color.
Switch back to your fluffy eyeshadow brush and lightly blend the dark brown into the crease and toward the center of the lid.
Blend gently so the brown shades transition smoothly without covering the frosty shimmer.
Step 6: Brighten the Center of the Eye
To finish the eyeshadow, add another touch of frosty shimmer to the middle of your eyelid.
Use your fingertip to gently pat the color into place. This final layer brings the shimmer back to the center of the eye and creates a beautiful contrast with the darker brown outer corner.
Step 7: Clean Up and Apply Mascara
If you applied loose setting powder underneath your eyes, gently sweep it away along with any eyeshadow fallout.
You can also use a clean Q-tip to remove any extra eyeshadow around the eye and sharpen the edges if needed.
Finish your eye makeup with a couple of coats of mascara to add definition to your lashes.
Step 8: Apply Your Matte Liquid Lipstick
Before applying your lip color, use a makeup wipe to clean your lips and remove any oils, lip balm, or leftover makeup.
Using your matte liquid lipstick applicator, carefully outline your lips first. Then fill them in with a thin, even coat of color.
Allow the lipstick to dry completely for a couple of minutes. If needed, use a clean Q-tip to smooth or clean up the edges.
Step 9: Keep Your Lip Color Transfer-Proof
For the best long-wear results, it's important to keep your matte liquid lipstick in its dry matte finish.
Avoid applying chapstick, lip balm, or lip gloss underneath or over the lipstick. These products can interfere with the matte finish and reduce the transfer-resistant properties of the lip color.
Apply your lipstick to clean, dry lips and allow it to set completely.
