Get ready for competition season with the Diamond Athletics Makeup Look! In this step-by-step cheer makeup tutorial, we're creating a soft black smokey eye with silver shimmer, sparkling silver glitter, and a long-wear matte lip.

This look combines softly blended black eyeshadow with bright silver shimmer, glitter accents, and optional rosy cheeks for a polished competition makeup look. Follow along to recreate the complete Diamond Athletics team makeup look.

Step 1: Prep Your Eyes

Start by applying a thin layer of eyeshadow primer across your eyelid. Primer helps lock in your eyeshadow and makes the colors appear more vibrant.

Next, dust a little loose setting powder underneath your eyes. This optional step catches eyeshadow fallout and makes cleanup much easier when you're finished.

Step 2: Create a Soft Black Smokey Outer Corner

Using a dome-shaped eyeshadow brush, pick up a small amount of black eyeshadow. Unload any excess eyeshadow onto the back of your hand so the color doesn't apply too heavily.

Gently press the black eyeshadow into the outer corner of your eye, creating a small V shape. We're going for a soft smokey effect, so you only need enough color to add a little definition.

Switch to a fluffy eyeshadow brush and blend the V shape until the black eyeshadow looks soft and diffused.

Makeup Tip: For a clean, defined outer edge, line up your finger from the outer corner of your eye toward the outer edge of your eyebrow. This helps guide the shape of your smokey eye as you apply the eyeshadow.

Step 3: Blend Black Eyeshadow into the Crease

Using any remaining black eyeshadow on your dome-shaped brush, gently press a little color into the crease.

Switch back to your fluffy brush and blend the color until it looks soft and natural. Avoid applying too much black eyeshadow, since this look is meant to have a lightly defined smokey finish.

Step 4: Apply Silver Shimmer Eyeshadow

Next, use your fingertip to pick up the silver shimmer eyeshadow and gently pat it across the inner and middle sections of your eyelid.

Continue applying the silver shimmer toward the outer corner until it meets the black eyeshadow.

You can also use a foam eyeshadow applicator instead of your fingertip to apply the shimmer across the lid.

Step 5: Highlight the Inner Corner

Now we're adding a little extra brightness to the inner corner of the eye.

Use a flat eyeshadow brush and lightly spritz it with setting spray. Pick up the soft shimmer eyeshadow and gently apply it to the inner corner of your eye near the tear duct.

Use a fluffy brush to lightly sweep across the eyelid and soften the eyeshadow where the colors meet.

Step 6: Add Silver Glitter Eyeshadow

Now it's time to add sparkle with silver glitter eyeshadow!

This glitter eyeshadow needs a clear primer to help it adhere to the eyelid.

Start by placing a small dot of clear primer onto the back of your hand. Swirl it around with your fingertip, then gently pat a thin layer onto the center of your eyelid.

You can also use a foam eyeshadow applicator to apply the primer.

Next, pick up the silver glitter eyeshadow with your fingertip and press it directly over the primer on the middle of your lid.

Repeat with another layer of glitter for extra sparkle. You can also use a foam applicator, but applying the glitter with your fingertip often gives the best coverage.

Step 7: Clean Up and Apply Mascara

If you applied loose setting powder underneath your eyes, gently sweep it away along with any eyeshadow fallout.

If you notice extra glitter or eyeshadow fallout, you can dust on a little additional setting powder and gently sweep it away with a fluffy brush.

Finish the eye makeup with a couple of coats of mascara to add definition to your lashes.

Step 8: Add Blush (Optional)

For a little warmth on the cheeks, apply blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend along your cheekbones.

Use a blush brush to soften the color and blend upward toward your hairline.

Step 9: Add Highlighter (Optional)

For an extra glow, apply highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones.

Lightly spritz a clean powder puff with setting spray and pick up a small amount of highlighter. Gently press it onto the tops of your cheekbones for a soft rosy glow.

If needed, use a blush brush to blend and soften the highlighter upward toward your hairline.

Step 10: Apply Matte Liquid Lipstick

Before applying your lip color, use a makeup wipe to clean your lips and remove any oils, lip balm, or leftover makeup.

Using your matte liquid lipstick applicator, carefully outline your lips first. Then fill them in with a thin, even coat of color.

Allow the lipstick to dry completely for a couple of minutes. If needed, use a clean Q-tip to smooth or clean up the edges.

Transfer-Proof Lip Tip: Avoid applying chapstick, lip balm, or lip gloss underneath or over your matte liquid lipstick. These products can interfere with the dry matte finish and reduce the transfer-resistant properties of the lip color.

Step 11: Add Silver Liquid Glitter to the Temples

For the final glitter accent, apply Silver Liquid Glitter in a C shape around your temples.

This adds a little extra sparkle around the eyes and creates a fun finishing touch for competition day.

Allow the liquid glitter to dry for a minute or two. If you're short on time, you can speed up the drying process using a fan or a blow dryer on the cool setting.

Step 12: Touch Up the Smokey Eye

As a final step, add a tiny amount of black eyeshadow to the outer corner of your eye to bring back a little depth.

Use your fluffy brush to gently blend and soften the black eyeshadow so the finished look stays soft without any harsh lines.
